Japan Help Now gives travelers short guidance and links to official or external facility information in Japan.

Location Access
If you tap Near me or Use my location, the app reads your device location only to suggest the nearest listed area. GPS coordinates are not sent with visitor reports.
Route Helper
If you check a route, Japan Help Now sends the selected listed place names and their approximate listed coordinates to a public transit route API. Your raw device GPS location is not sent to the route helper.
Visitor Reports
If you submit a report, Japan Help Now receives:
- Your report text
- The selected area
- The report category
- The submission time
- A random installation ID, session ID, and connected hotel code, if any
Reports are stored in Supabase so guidance can be reviewed and corrected. The public app can submit reports but cannot read other visitors' reports.
Anonymous Usage Measurement
The app creates a random installation ID that remains until app data is cleared or the app is reinstalled. A session ID changes after about 30 minutes of inactivity. We may record first open, app open, return use, selected city, selected problem category, facility-search actions, no-result states, and optional luggage or eSIM link views and clicks. Events may include the selected listed place, screen placement, time, and hotel referral code. Search text, GPS coordinates, report text, and private trip notes are not included.
Hotel QR Referral Page
A hotel QR page stores a random browser ID, session ID, hotel referral code, and scan time in the browser and Supabase. It does not collect your name, room number, or GPS location. If the code is connected to the app, later anonymous app events include it so the free hotel pilot can be measured.
On-Device Storage
Reports may remain on your device while waiting to send. Sent status is stored locally so you can check whether submission succeeded. Saved place names, visit status, and private trip notes stay on this device and are not uploaded by the saved-trip feature.
External Links
When you open an official page, map search, or route helper result, you leave Japan Help Now or contact an external service. That external service processes the request under its own privacy policy. Nearby map searches include the selected area name, not your GPS coordinates.
Partner Link Measurement
When a luggage-storage or eSIM partner link is shown or opened, Japan Help Now may record its category, selected listed area, screen placement, hotel code, and time. The partner URL may receive the hotel code, placement, affiliate category, and a random click ID. It does not receive the app installation ID, GPS coordinates, trip notes, or report text from Japan Help Now.
Affiliate Commission Disclosure
If you make a purchase or booking through a link clearly labeled as an affiliate link, the operator of Japan Help Now may receive a referral commission. Free guidance remains available. Before paying, review the external provider's price, terms, cancellation policy, and privacy policy.
Trip Pass Purchases
If Trip Pass is enabled, App Store or Google Play processes the purchase, price, currency, tax, cancellation, and refund. RevenueCat may process an anonymous store customer identifier, product identifier, entitlement status, purchase status, and expiry information so the app can provide and restore access. Trip Pass remains hidden until the store products and public RevenueCat configuration have been verified.
Sharing and Deletion
Japan Help Now does not sell visitor reports or anonymous usage events. Supabase processes reports, hotel scans, and usage events. External services process requests under their own policies. Pilot data will be deleted or aggregated no later than 90 days after the pilot analysis ends. Contact us with deletion questions.
